Lend Your Expertise to Help Newer Cyclists

Learn How to Ride Better and Safer

BTCNJ’s RideSmart rider training program starts up this spring. RideSmart teaches riders, particularly those newer to cycling, essential individual and group bike handling skills for safe, competent, courteous, and confident riding.

Consider joining our RideSmart Instructors Team and passing your knowledge and experience to others. We are looking for experienced cyclists to join our staff of instructors. You’ll be contributing to the future of BTCNJ.

You’ll get 10 points toward your Ride Leader jersey/kit as well as RideSmart logo water bottles, and you’ll be contributing to the future of BTCNJ. To be an instructor, you need to:

  1. Attend and participate in an instructor organizational meeting (May 11) and two evening Zoom classroom sessions (May 18 and May 25).
  2. Lead and provide instruction to RideSmart participants for at least three of the four training rides: June 19, June 26, July 3 and July 10. The June 19 ride would be coordinated with the club picnic. If a Saturday ride is cancelled due to inclement weather, the ride would be on Sunday.
  3. Be willing to learn the RideSmart approach and curriculum and teach it to the BTCNJ participants in classroom sessions and on the rides.
  4. Be able to ride at a C* pace or higher.
