Above is a photo from the 2017 BTCNJ Oktoberfest Membership Meeting!!! Well maybe not exactly…but pretty close!!!!

Did you know that the Munich Oktoberfest starts in mid-September? So what’s good for Munich is good for BTCNJ!!!!

Besides Don and Cyndi’s informative presentation on the RideSmart Rider Training Program (see article below), Keith Danish will be preparing a German feast of non-alcoholic German beer, various sausages and cheeses, pretzels, kraut, chips & dips & veggies—and if the shopping gods are with us, maybe a German dessert or two. Thank you, Keith!

So come to learn about RideSmart and enjoy a truly delicious German feast!!

BTCNJ’s RideSmart Rider Training Program

This past spring, BTCNJ conducted its pilot bicycle rider training program, called RideSmart, to help members improve their competence, safety, and confidence in riding on the roads in our area, both individually and in groups. This program was modeled after the New York Cycle Club’s (NYCC) successful 30-year old program, called SIG. The course was staffed by experienced BTCNJ riders who received orientation from NYCC SIG instructors.

The course was aimed at newer riders, but open to all who want to improve or refresh their skills. To prepare riders for the then-upcoming riding season, the course was scheduled in March and April. The program consisted of 2 classroom lectures and 4 training rides.

Don Schlenger and Cyndi Steiner will review this year’s RideSmart program, talk about next year’s program, and discuss the future of BTCNJ’s rider training efforts.
