Ride Your Longest Ride This Year
The 2017 Ramapo Rally will provide an opportunity for you to ride your longest ride of the year as the pinnacle of your cycling season. It is your chance to challenge ourself as you ride with other BTCNJ members. This is an event not to miss and the bargain of the decade. All 1300 BTCNJ members are encouraged to participate. Mark your calendar for August 20, 2017.
Registration is $35 until July 31 for club members and includes six routes from 12 to 125 miles, breakfast, rest stops with nutritious snacks, healthy gourmet lunch, small gift, and a chance to win a new Giant bike. Registration for non-club members is $50 until July 31.
After lunch, visit the Campgaw marketplace with your BTCNJ friends and club members. Registration will begin April 15. Group rides of various distances and ride levels will be posted on BTCNJ’s Ride Schedule for sign-up. Cycling with other club members makes the ride more fun and easier, as everyone encourages each other along the route.
Thanks to Bob Reich, the rally and executive committees, and other club members for helping to refocus the main purposes of the rally. These include facilitating camaraderie among club membership, promoting BTCNJ to non-members, and raising money for bike advocacy and the club. The committees’ financial goals are to cover our annual donations to bike advocacy organizations and provide a small contribution to BTCNJ funds. This way we can keep the rally price reasonable and maintain a financially sound club.
Renie Gaddi, rally chairperson, and the rally committee are trying to minimize the number of volunteers required to administer the rally, but we still need a good number. Volunteers are generously rewarded with rally rides the weekend before the rally and a volunteer dinner the Sunday after the rally. Previous year’s volunteers and new volunteers are greatly appreciated. I hope to see you at this year’s rally riding your longest ride of the season and/or volunteering. Be safe out there.
