The Gems of Northern Westchester
Join fellow riders from 7 neighboring bicycle clubs* for a beautiful day on your bike. Based out of Croton Point Park, the route showcases the best of Northern Westchester, including spectacular views of the Hudson River, historic bridges, marinas, forests, alpacas, and family farms on quiet backroads. Stop for a photo at the architectural marvel that is the New Croton Dam. Enjoy a short stretch on the historic North County Trailway across the Croton Reservoir. Come back to beautiful Croton Point Park for swimming and a picnic lunch.
The route features some challenging hills and exhilarating descents. Some roads are in “New York Standard” shape, so ride with caution. The last few miles are downhill.
There are 2 convenience opportunities on the routes: Montrose Deli (~mile 19) and Yorktown Heights main drag (~mile 32).
Parking: $10 in Croton Point Park at the staging area;
$5 at Croton Harmon Station (a short bike ride to the start).
There is a $5 member contribution (the Club is subsidizing the cost to keep the contribution down) for members to enjoy a simple picnic lunch at the end. When you sign up, please indicate if you will NOT be having lunch, since we need a head count.
*The clubs participating are Westchester Cycle Club, New York Cycle Club, Bicycle Touring Club of North Jersey, Sound Cyclists, Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club, Rockland Bicycling Club, Long Island Bicycle Club, and Orange County Bicycle Club.
